Marca Research and development International was started by Bruce Golden, M.D. as the research arm of Marca Industries, Inc., one of the first comprehensive medical billing companies. As a physician and research scientist, his vision has always been to help people and society

When he retired from medicine in 2001 he decided to take his computer billing company to the next level. He assembled a team to develop medical records that would help doctors by understanding what they wrote and recommending diagnoses or treatments based on that. He quickly realized this could not be done without an underlying engine that could understand what the doctor was writing. He then assembled a team of software engineers, computer scientists and PhDs. Together over the course of several years they developed AI-based software that could understand the written word. We call this engine B.R.U.C.E. “Better Results Using Cognitive Engines” to honor our founder. This was revolutionary. Imagine now instead of putting one word or two words into the search bar you could put in 1,000 or 10,000 words or entire document. That would be a game changer! That is what Marca’s AI allows us to do.

At this point, we realized we had a unique product and wanted to patent our engine. We searched prior art using keywords and categorization, all that was available. This was of no help. When brainstorming how to write our patent, we realized we had a smart engine, and that we should write a patent search program. That was how Marca AutoPatent was born. And it works so well and is so unique that it was granted a patent in 2018.
